Location: 24 Mellon Charles is in an enviable elevated spot overlooking Loch Ewe. The views from the house stretch across Loch Ewe with the Torridon Mountains forming a dramatic backdrop. The West Coast of Scotland is famous for its mild climate and stunning coastline with sheltered sandy beaches and island views. The unspoilt countryside and traditional communities make this area popular with those seeking a change of lifestyle. Mellon Charles is a small community lying close to the crofting and fishing village of Aultbea lying strung out along the west shore of Loch Ewe. The village has a licensed shop, post office and hotel with restaurant and public bar. Other amenities include a doctors' surgery, church, garage, and village hall. A mobile library, bank and fishmonger make weekly visits to the village. There is a primary school at Bualnaluib (approx 2 miles) and secondary schooling is available at the reputable Gairloch High School, about 15 miles away. A free bus service is provided for children travelling to and from school. Its climate benefits greatly from location on the Gulf Stream contributing to its popularity with tourists and locals alike. The world renowned Inverewe Gardens, some 9 miles away reflect this in the variety of exotic plant species supported by the climate. For the outdoor enthusiast many pursuits are available including sea angling, golf, sailing, wind surfing, hill walking, bird watching and mountaineering and a number of these pastimes can be enjoyed directly from the house.
