It feels like the Winter lasted a lifetime, but at last we’re finally getting into those lovely long days again! We’ve compiled a list of a lush local walks to make the most of the upcoming gorgeous weather.

Culloden Battlefield, Culloden Moor
A historical walk through the site of the final battle of the Jacobite rising, with the impressive monument and amazing visitors centre, this is great for all ages!

Fairy Glen, Rosemarkie
A fairly short but beautiful walk through the wooded glen in Rosemarkie, ending up at the stunning Fairy Glen fall. If you’re looking for a little but mighty walk, this is a great choice.

Fyrish Monument, Evanton
This hill can be a little tricky at parts due to the incline, but once you’re up there the views over the Black Isle and Cromarty Firth make all the hard work worth it.

Ness Islands, City Centre
In the heart of the Inverness City Centre, this is a lovely easy walk for all, taking you through the Islands of the River Ness.

Ord Hill, North Kessock
Not quite as high or tricky as Fyrish, this walk will give you a breath-taking view over the Kessock Bridge and Moray Firth.

Phoineas Hill, Kiltarlity
Also known as Belladrum Hill, similar to Ord Hill in terms of effort, this little beauty shows the Highlands at its finest.

Plodda Falls, Glen Affric
Another gorgeous waterfall, Plodda Falls perhaps one of the most popular within the local area, this is a fairly straight forward walk, with some small inclines, but the most fantastic payoff!

Caledonian Canal, Bught
This fantastic walk, taking you out alongside the length of the canal, can be as long or as short as you make it – even getting out as far as Dochgarroch Locks starting from Bught.

Falls of Foyers, Foyers
Our final but perhaps most spectacular of the local waterfalls, will have you out at this amazing gorge South of Loch Ness – a great spot for all.
